Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

KO2's client, based in St Helens, designs and manufactures complex IP and WAN-based connectors for communication devices. Due to rapid growth and increased production demand, they are seeking experienced Micro-Soldering Technicians to join their onsite team permanently.

The Role

You will be responsible for precision soldering of small-scale, high-density multi-pin connectors (including Fisher connectors) used within advanced communication systems. The work involves:

  • Micro-soldering very small hollow pins arranged concentrically
  • Working under a microscope due to extremely tight pin spacing
  • Preventing solder bridging and pin contamination
  • Terminating fine multi-strand cable assemblies
  • Supporting electrical test (pass/fail) and fault identification
  • Ensuring assemblies meet high-reliability standards before potting and overmoulding

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in micro-soldering / fine-pitch soldering
  • Experience soldering small multi-pin connectors or PCB components
  • Confident working under magnification (microscope essential)
  • Strong understanding of solder joint quality and defect prevention
  • Ability to avoid bridging on closely spaced pins
  • Background in electronics manufacturing, cable assembly, or connector assembly
  • Comfortable working in a production environment with growing volumes

Desirable

  • Experience within military, aerospace, or high-reliability sectors
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (e.g. IPC-A-610)
  • Exposure to cable overmoulding processes
