Senior SCADA / Controls Engineer required for an urgent 6 month contract on a critical infrastructure project, integrating generators, battery storage (BESS) and wind generation into a single automated control system. Immediate start.

The Role

You'll be joining a live, business critical project as a Senior SCADA/Controls Engineer, developing and supporting the automated control system that manages power generation across multiple sources on site. This is high-consequence work on infrastructure where reliability is essential, and you'll be working closely with an experienced in-house engineering team to deliver it.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and supporting SCADA/EMS control logic integrating generators, battery energy storage (BESS) and wind generation into one automated system
  • Working with an Enercon-based wind SCADA platform, coordinating closed-loop automatic control across energy sources
  • Building HMI screens, alarm management and historical data logging
  • Supporting automatic transitions between generation sources, load management and diesel dispatch logic
  • Working to a Functional Design Specification (FDS) and contributing to its ongoing development
  • Liaising directly with site engineering teams on the safe delivery of control changes

What We're Looking For

  • Proven, hands-on experience developing SCADA systems for power generation, renewable energy, microgrids or similar critical infrastructure environments
  • Strong PLC/SCADA development background - Beckhoff TwinCAT experience highly desirable
  • Experience integrating multiple asset types (generators, BESS, renewables) into a single control platform
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, IEC 61850 or OPC UA
  • Comfortable working in a high-consequence environment where errors carry real operational impact
  • Available to start at short notice for a 6 month contract

Contract Details

  • Contract Length: 6 months, with potential to extend
  • Rate: £70-£80 per hour, Outside IR35
  • Location: Aberdeen, Bromsgrove, Hull or Sheffield. Your choice.
  • Start Date: ASAP
