KO2\βs client, based in Headingley is a leading technology business specialising in the design and development of advanced handheld embedded devices for the monitoring of audio acoustics. They are now looking to appoint a Senior/Principal Android Developer to join their growing team and act as the in-house Android Architect.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Android professional to take ownership of the mobile platform strategy. As there is only basic Android knowledge in-house, KO2\βs client needs someone with deep expertise who can define the Android architecture, select the full toolchain, and ensure best practices are embedded across the product line.
The Role
As the Lead Android Architect, you will be responsible for shaping the entire Android environment within the business. You will design and implement mobile applications for complex embedded systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Your role will involve selecting frameworks, establishing development standards, and mentoring the team on Android technologies.
About You
The successful Android Architect will bring:
Proven experience in designing mobile applications across varying screen sizes and Android versions.
Expert-level knowledge of Kotlin and Java.
Deep understanding of the Android SDK, UI design principles, and best practices.
Strong experience with performance tuning, offline data storage, and multi-threading.
Familiarity with the wider open-source Android ecosystem, including commonly used libraries and optimisation tools.
Proficiency in Android design guidelines, Git-based version control, and the application of SOLID principles.
Hands-on experience with MVVM/MVI patterns, Android Architecture Components, Jetpack libraries, and Jetpack Compose.
