We are seeking an engaging, innovative teacher with strong communication skills and a collaborative team‑player mindset. This permanent full‑time role is based out of Sumner and requires working in mainstream and specialist schools with DHH students, whānau and school staff.
Responsibilities
- Engage with your assigned caseload, maintain related record keeping, and liaise with families and whānau to support student participation and success in their education and life outcomes.
- Work closely with DHH students, whānau and school staff/teams across the Christchurch area.
- Apply experience working with Deaf children or mainstream children, with early levels of the New Zealand Curriculum.
Requirements
- Proven best practice and experience working with Deaf children and/or mainstream children.
- Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ registered teacher.
- Current, clean driver’s licence; use of own car with mileage reimbursed under conditions.
- Existing skills or a willingness to develop proficiency in NZSL and listening and spoken language practices for DHH learners.
- Recent practical experience with the early levels of the New Zealand Curriculum.
