Knutsford Academy are seeking a highly organised, enthusiastic, and proactive Science Technician with a strong chemistry background to join our dedicated and supportive Science Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a large, well-resourced department that serves students across two sites.
About the Role
You will be part of a skilled team of three technicians, working collaboratively to support the delivery of engaging and effective science lessons from Year 7 through to Year 13. The role involves supporting practical work across all key stages, with a particular emphasis on chemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across both locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials for practical lessons
- Providing specialist support for chemistry experiments, including preparation of reagents and solutions
- Ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and resources in good working order
- Assisting with stock control, ordering, and organisation of resources
- Supporting teachers and students during practical activities where appropriate
- Promoting and maintaining a high standard of health and safety within the laboratories
The Ideal Candidate
- Has a strong background or qualification in Chemistry
- Is organised, methodical, and able to manage a varied workload
- Has excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Demonstrates a good understanding of laboratory safety procedures
- Is flexible and willing to work across two school sites
- Previous experience in a school or laboratory setting is desirable but not essential

This is a term time only role - 37 hours per week (8am to 4pm Mon, Tue, Wed, Thrs and 8am to 3.30pm Fri). Salary - Grade 4 pro rated for hours and weeks worked is £21,534.
