Knowsley Youth Justice Service are currently looking for a skilled full time Family & Victim Engagement Officer. Knowsley YJS offers you the chance to make real changes to children and family’s lives in a dynamic and creative way, working as part of a committed and experienced multi‑agency team. The role supports children, families and harmed people, delivering sustainable outcomes and fostering safety and wellbeing.
Responsibilities- Provide family intervention and victim/harmed person engagement services underpinned by restorative practice.
- Conduct assessments and plan, deliver 1‑1 and group interventions with parents, carers, victims and harmed persons.
- Build strength‑based plans and strategies, addressing support needs, safety and wellbeing.
- Maintain positive professional relationships, facilitating and sustaining change, and safeguarding children and victims.
- Balance a ‘Child First’ & ‘Victim First’ approach with public protection responsibilities and contextual safeguarding.
- Ensure compliance with Youth Justice Board case requirements, performance measures, national standards and inspectorate frameworks.
- Participate in flexible working arrangements and occasional weekend or evening work as required.
- Knowledge of current children's and youth justice legislation and a relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated experience working with partner agencies to support vulnerable children, families or harmed people.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to develop positive trusting relationships.
- Creativity in engaging with families and harmed people, recognising the impact of exploitation, trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and the ability to supervise and reflect on complex cases.
- Willingness to perform occasional weekend and evening work.
