About the Service
Knowsley Council is a committed and growing local authority focused on improving children’s social care services (CSC). The council is on an improvement journey with a focus on strengthening practice, developing our workforce and delivering consistently high‑quality services. Our Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) brings together key partners to ensure timely, informed decisions and effective safeguarding responses.
Role Overview
The role is for a senior social work professional who will provide leadership and management oversight in a fast‑paced, front‑door environment such as MASH. Responsibilities include making confident threshold decisions, providing effective support to practitioners, fostering collaboration with multi‑agency partners, and driving positive change across the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support and supervise staff to deliver high‑quality practice and achieve service outcomes.
- Make sound, timely and defensible decisions regarding child safeguarding and service provision.
- Analyse risk and work with partners to secure best outcomes for children and families.
- Facilitate effective collaboration and information sharing across the local authority and external partners.
- Advocate for best practice, embed a culture of accountability, learning and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to and champion improvement initiatives within CSC.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognised Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
- Significant experience within children's safeguarding.
- Strong knowledge of thresholds, statutory guidance and legislation.
- Experience working in a MASH or front‑door setting (desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to make sound, timely and defensible decisions.
- Experience supporting, coaching or supervising staff.
- Commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.
- Strong partnership‑working and communication skills.
