a Social Worker within the team, you will work closely with children, young people and their families to assess their individual needs and develop appropriate plans and packages of support designed to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a varied caseload within statutory Children's Social Care.
  • Completing assessments of children and young people's needs.
  • Undertaking direct work with children, young people and their families.
  • Developing and reviewing appropriate plans and packages of support.
  • Managing complex situations using sound professional judgement.
  • Working collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals.
  • Promoting relationship-based and strengths-based social work practice.
  • Ensuring the voice of the child remains central to assessment and planning.
  • Contributing positively to a supportive and reflective team culture.

About the Team

The Children with Disabilities Team benefits from a distinctive management structure with two Team Managers providing leadership across the service. This helps maintain manageable team sizes while giving practitioners access to high-quality supervision and support. Social Workers work closely alongside Managers, a Finance Officer and Family Support Worker, creating a collaborative environment focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families. Previous Children with Disabilities experience is desirable but is not essential. The team welcomes experienced Children's Social Workers from other statutory services who are interested in developing specialist knowledge. Practitioners are supported through shared expertise, reflective supervision and ongoing training opportunities.

What We're Looking For

  • Hold a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Be registered with Social Work England.
  • Have experience working within statutory Children's Social Care.
  • Be confident managing your own caseload.
  • Have experience completing assessments and direct work with children and young people.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be committed to relationship-based and strengths-based practice.
  • Be reflective, motivated and committed to continued professional development.
  • Be passionate about achieving positive and lasting outcomes for children and families.
