Responsibilities and Key Tasks

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to become part of the unique, innovative, warm and welcoming Knowsley MBC Inclusion Service. We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher who would like to broaden their experience by working with children and young people in Knowsley. You will work under the direction of the Education Improvement Officer -SEND to be an integral part of an outstanding new team. They will lead a team of two SEND Improvement Officers.

You will show evidence of a career providing high quality education for students with a wide range of needs, including SEND, both academically and socially. We welcome applicants with experience in EYFS, Primary, Secondary, or Post-16 education specialists in any phase who are skilled in supporting children through key stages and their transitions.

You will work in partnership with schools, leading engaging CPD and INSET sessions, equipping staff with practical tools, visuals, and strategies to create inclusive environments where every child can thrive. Working directly with teaching teams, you will model effective approaches, build confidence, and embed strategies that support teaching, helping schools make effective changes that lead to big impact.

Qualifications

  • Experience of teaching in one or more of the following areas: Teaching, learning and assessment; SEND including Autism and ADHD; curriculum and attainment; or personal development and behaviour.
  • An excellent teaching record.
  • To be able to engage, manage and successfully motivate vulnerable young people with a variety of medical needs/mental health issues.
  • To be able to write reports, provide evidence of student attainment and abilities and keep clear records.
  • To successfully deliver education in a variety of contexts and places.
  • Manage a classroom or learning environment, directing support staff and writing reports/evaluations which evidence impact and progress.
  • Demonstrate high quality organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Listen and communicate effectively with adults and young people.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with SEND pupils, including Autism and ADHD, and how to differentiate both academically and socially to support these students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of curriculum requirements for primary or secondary aged pupils.
  • Understanding of the effective use of assessment, recording, tracking and target setting.
  • Understanding of the importance of effective multi-disciplinary working and close links with outside agencies.
  • Driver's licence and car.
