Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: Mon to Fri 8.00 am to 17.00 pm

Main Purpose: The Inventory Manager is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and visibility of all inventory across the site(s), while leading a small team and influencing wider operational performance. This role plays a key part in ensuring the Warehouse Management System (WMS) reflects real-time stock accuracy, supporting operational efficiency, rework activity, and delivery against contractual KPIs and SLAs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Inventory Control & Accuracy: Own and manage stock accuracy across the site, ensuring the WMS is maintained to a high standard at all times. Develop, implement, and manage a robust Perpetual Inventory (PI) schedule. Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing preventative actions. Ensure all inventory processes are compliant with internal, customer, and audit requirements.
  • Rework & Value-Added Activity: Take full ownership of rework activities across sites, ensuring they are planned, controlled, and delivered efficiently. Coordinate rework priorities in line with operational demand and customer requirements. Ensure accurate stock movements and system updates relating to rework processes.
  • Operational Influence: Work cross-functionally with operations to drive best practices in stock handling, storage, and movement. Influence operational teams to ensure adherence to inventory processes and standards. Support export activity through involvement in documentation and stock preparation.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and analyse KPIs and SLAs, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations. Report on inventory and rework performance, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities. Take proactive action to address performance gaps.
  • Continuous Improvement & Analysis: Continuously review and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conduct ABC analysis and support warehouse layout optimisation to improve stock flow and efficiency. Organise and prepare stock for customer analysis (e.g. catch analysis / quality reviews). Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance accuracy and productivity.
  • Systems & Process Optimisation: Act as the site lead for WMS inventory functionality. Drive system improvements and ensure optimal use of technology. Support system upgrades, testing, and process changes.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a small inventory team. Set clear expectations and drive accountability for inventory and rework activities. Foster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement. Manage poor behaviour and conduct when necessary. Conduct investigations and disciplinaries when necessary, through the Disciplinary procedures. Be fully conversant with the People Policies and refer to when necessary to manage non-adherence. Be able to hold difficult conversations and manage conflict resolution. Be able to problem solve and look for resolutions. Be respectful and lead change.
  • Housekeeping & Hygiene Standards: Ensure high standards of warehouse housekeeping and inventory hygiene are maintained. Promote a clean, organised, and audit-ready environment at all times.

Must Haves (Qualifications & Skills):

  • Proven experience in inventory management within a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Strong understanding of WMS systems and stock control methodologies (PI, cycle counting, etc.).
  • Experience managing rework or value-added services (desirable).
  • Knowledge of export processes and documentation (advantageous).
  • Strong analytical capability with experience in KPI/SLA management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive and detail oriented.
  • Tenacious and willing to challenge to resolve issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Operationally aware with the ability to influence beyond direct control.
  • Results-driven with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and service.
  • Commercially minded with a continuous improvement focus.
  • Must have own transport and full UK driving licence and own transportation to work.
