We are hiring for this role as part of our continued commercial growth. Successful candidates can start from March 2026.

Full‑time, Remote/Hybrid: While the role is advertised in a specific area, it is remote and we operate on a home‑working model. The candidate must be able to travel to London for operational meet‑ups, training days, and company away days as required, typically around 6 times per year.

Salary: Dependent on experience. Commission: Uncapped commission on all apprenticeship starts once monthly target is met. Travel: All travel required for the role is reimbursed in full.

Business Development Manager – What You’ll Be Doing

As our Public Sector Specialist, you’ll take the lead in identifying, engaging, and growing apprenticeship partnerships across the UK public sector. You’ll work with government departments, local authorities, NHS Trusts, arm’s‑length bodies, and other public institutions to understand their workforce priorities and shape meaningful apprenticeship solutions. You’ll combine strategic account management with proactive business development, nurturing long‑term relationships, responding to tenders and frameworks, and uncovering new opportunities through structured research and targeted outreach. You’ll lead high‑quality meetings with senior stakeholders, deliver compelling presentations, and represent KnowledgeBrief at sector events, conferences, and forums. You’ll also collaborate closely with internal teams to produce high‑quality bids, tenders, and proposals that reflect our capability and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who understands the complexity of public sector procurement, thrives in long‑cycle relationship building, and is motivated by the opportunity to drive meaningful workforce development across the UK.

Business Development Manager – What’s On Offer

  • Full‑time role, 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary dependent on experience
  • Uncapped commission on all apprenticeship starts once monthly target is met

Ideal Candidates Will Showcase Some or All of the Following:

  • Proven experience in business development within the public sector (essential)
  • Experience selling into government departments, NHS Trusts, councils, or other public bodies (highly advantageous)
  • Experience within the apprenticeship or skills sector (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement, frameworks, and tendering processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable ability to build long‑term, trust‑based relationships and manage complex accounts
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Adaptable and resilient, comfortable navigating evolving public sector landscapes
  • Professional, enthusiastic, and driven, contributing positively to the team and wider organisation
