We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Trials Nurse to join our friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking general practice team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality commercial research in primary care, while also contributing to routine general practice nursing services. The role offers excellent opportunities for professional development across both clinical research and primary care, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will support the safe and effective delivery of clinical trials within the practice, ensuring that all research activity is conducted in accordance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory requirements.

Main duties of the job:
  • Support the setup, delivery, and closeout of clinical trials in a primary care environment
  • Identify, screen, recruit, and consent eligible participants in line with study protocols
  • Conduct study visits, including clinical assessments, observations, and data collection
  • Administer investigational medicinal products (IMPs) where appropriate and within scope of practice
  • Monitor participant wellbeing and ensure timely reporting of adverse events
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality documentation in source notes and electronic data capture systems
  • Support monitoring visits, audits, and regulatory inspections
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, practice staff, research networks, and study sponsors
Governance, Training, and Development:
  • Ensure compliance with GCP, research governance, and regulatory frameworks
  • Maintain NMC registration and complete mandatory training
  • Undertake GCP and study-specific training as required
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of research processes within the practice
  • Support the training of colleagues involved in research activity where appropriate

About us: Knowle House Surgery has been actively involved in commercial research for over 20 years and is well respected in this field. As part of the newly established Primary Care Commercial Research Delivery Centre (PCCRDC) for the South West, we are expanding our research team and expect to participate in an increasing number of clinical trials. Qualifications:
  • Registered NMC Nurse
  • Experience working in a clinical setting
  • Understanding of clinical research and GCP, or willingness to undertake training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience as a research or clinical trials nurse
  • Previous primary care experience
  • GCP certification
  • Phlebotomy and clinical assessment skills
  • Experience using electronic data capture systems
