We are seeking an experienced and proactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team. Reporting directly to the Engineering Shift Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall performance and reliability of plant, machinery, and electrical installations across our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering planned preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and fault finding activities, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities and ensure electrical contractor service inspections are completed in accordance with the maintenance schedule and service contracts.
  • Ensure all statutory electrical inspections are completed on time and that any remedial actions are logged and completed by the Site Services Department.
  • Manage external contractors, issue permits to work for electrical activities, and actively monitor contractor performance.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults and breakdowns in a timely manner to minimise downtime.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on equipment failures and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and best practices.
  • Liaise with external specialists and contractors to ensure effective resolution of technical issues.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and cleanliness across engineering areas.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all relevant safety and quality standards.
  • Escalate any issues that may impact health and safety, environmental compliance, or product quality.
  • Communicate planned engineering activities effectively with all relevant departments.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in a similar maintenance engineering role.
  • Experience within a Pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC systems (Siemens), panel wiring, fault finding techniques, and single-phase and three-phase electrical installations.
  • Ability to work independently, make effective decisions, and support the safety of colleagues and business operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and technical knowledge.

Desirable

  • PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic investigation experience.
  • Mechanical logic appreciation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience with appropriate certification.
  • City & Guilds qualifications including:
    • 2382 – 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
    • 2393 – Part P
    • 2365 – Electrical Installations
    • Or currently working towards these qualifications.

Desirable

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering.
