We are recruiting for a Tax Senior on behalf of a successful, independent accountancy practice that is looking to build its friendly team, to enable it to continue its delivery of high‑quality tax services to its varied client base.
Role Overview
This is a mixed tax role that will meet the firm’s tax clients' requirements which includes corporate and personal tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax and trust tax compliance work along with tax planning and advisory work.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring high‑quality service and efficient workflow management
- Prepare and review corporation tax and personal tax returns for a diverse range of clients
- Handle tax planning assignments, including advising on allowances, reliefs, and structuring opportunities
- Manage compliance deadlines and ensure timely submission of all tax filings
- Delegate effectively, balancing workloads and ensuring client deadlines are met
- Review tax computations prepared by junior team members, and provide feedback
- Support the development of junior members through coaching and mentoring
- Assist with HMRC enquiries, responding professionally and promptly
- Support partners and managers with advisory projects, research, and technical analysis
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure all work complies with relevant standards and legislation
- Help promote a positive team culture and encourage best practices
Qualifications
- Be ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified (exceptional finalist or qualified by experience applicants may be considered)
- Strong background in personal and/or corporate tax within a UK accountancy practice
- Proven experience preparing tax computations, returns, and advisory work for a varied client portfolio
- Solid understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC compliance requirements
- Experience reviewing the work of junior staff and managing client relationships
- Good general IT skills and proficiency with tax and accounting software such as CCH, IRIS, or similar
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, reliable and proactive with a strong work ethic
