Product Testing and Conformance Technician

Under minimal supervision, plan, coordinate and assign incoming test requests to meet project schedules, requester expectations and lead time requirements. Follow documented test methods to perform accurate and repeatable tests and report the results to the requestor. Under guidance of Product Conformance Team, respond to customer and sales inquiries about product compliance to safety standards.

Testing Function

• Conduct tests according to established documentation and objectives (i.e. MillerKnoll Test Methods, ASTM, BS, EN, etc.)
• Coordinate the completion of test requests with third party testing facilities
• At times, facilitate logistics of test samples
• Assist in the demonstration of tests or explanation of requirements to vendors and/or customers
• Estimate testing time and project cost.
• Accurately communicate test progress and/or results to internal customers.
• Analyse test data including but not limited to simple descriptive statistics.
• Evaluate request tracking and scheduling processes and initiate improvements.
• Plan day-to-day work to meet project schedules, requester expectations and lead time requirements.
• Review and approve peer test results and reports.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and calibration records as necessary
• Maintain detailed and accurate data as required.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain housekeeping in the lab.

Conformance Function

• Monitor and respond to customer inquiries related to product conformance.
• Collaborate with U.S. based Conformance Team for guidance and support to maintain inquiries log
• Ability to make sound decisions without all relevant data present.
• Maintain confidentiality on projects.

Education/Experience: 5 years of laboratory technician experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of BIFMA, BSI, and EN standards and testing equipment nice to have
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Organizational skills and successful project planning experience.
• Good technical writing skills; good communication skills.
• Customer Service Focus.
• Previous mechanical testing or metrology laboratory experience
• Experience in the use of computerised equipment and data collection devices.
