Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in line with UK legislation and industry best practice.
- Lead site risk assessments, audits, and inspections.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver HSE training and awareness programmes across the business.
- Monitor compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Administer H&S and environmental compliance systems such as waste transfer notes, waste packaging, and H&S systems monitoring and reporting.
- Monitor and report HSE performance metrics and support improvement initiatives.
- Provide expert advice to senior management on HSE matters.
- Manage environmental initiatives including waste management and sustainability programmes.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors where required.
- Be a part of the team implementing emerging environmental requirements such as CBAM.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a HSE senior role (minimum 3 years) within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
- NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (or equivalent) with relevant Health & Safety experience.
- Membership of IEMA, IOSH or ISEP bodies or equivalent qualification / experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation (manufacturing sector specific).
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and governance within assessment or HSE environments.
- Strong incident investigation and risk management experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
- Experience delivering HSE related training or supporting competence frameworks.
- Knowledge of awarding bodies or regulated environments.
- Experience working with ISO standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Strong manufacturing background with engineering bias.
- Understanding of manual, semi-automated and fully automated processes.
- Willingness and drive to learn new skills.
