An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineer to join a well-established residential developer delivering high-quality housing schemes across the Northern Home Counties region. This role would suit either an experienced Development Engineer from a housebuilding background or a Highways/Infrastructure Engineer looking to transition into residential development. The key requirement is a strong understanding of highways and drainage design and the ability to critically review and interrogate technical information to ensure designs are practical, compliant and fit for purpose. This is not a setting out or temporary works role.
The Role
- Working closely with Technical, Commercial and Construction teams, you will be responsible for reviewing and coordinating engineering designs associated with residential developments, ensuring infrastructure proposals align with programme, budget and adoptable standards.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and interrogating highways, drainage and infrastructure designs
- Coordinating external engineering consultants
- Ensuring designs comply with S38, S104 and statutory authority requirements
- Identifying technical risks, buildability issues and value engineering opportunities
- Liaising with Local Authorities, utility providers and approval bodies
- Supporting the wider technical team throughout the development lifecycle
- Assisting with the discharge of engineering-related planning conditions
- Ensuring engineering information is delivered accurately and on programme
About You
- Experience within highways, infrastructure or residential development engineering
- Strong understanding of adoptable roads and drainage design
- Knowledge of S38, S104 and related technical approval processes
- Ability to review and challenge technical designs confidently
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Residential developer experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Civil Engineering or related qualification preferred
