We are seeking a Building Safety Consultant to deliver the Principal Designer role under the Building Safety Act across a diverse portfolio of projects, including both high-risk and non–high-risk buildings. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, technically focused environment, working closely with design teams and duty holders to ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
The Role
You will play a key role in managing and coordinating design compliance from early design through to completion (RIBA Stages 2–6). This includes attending design team meetings, advising clients on their duties, monitoring risks to compliance and ensuring effective collaboration between all stakeholders. You will also support Building Control submissions, review design and contractor information and contribute to the “Golden Thread” of information.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the route to compliance with consultant teams
- Monitor design development and identify compliance risks
- Liaise with clients and duty holders on Building Safety Act requirements
- Review competency of design teams and contractor documentation
- Support regulatory submissions and reporting at key project stages
- Contribute to change management and ensure mandatory reporting processes are in place
About You
- Chartered or professionally accredited
- Strong project delivery experience, including high-risk buildings
- Confident communicator with stakeholder management experience
- Commercially aware with knowledge of contracts and bidding processes
- Experience leading projects and mentoring junior team members
- Organised, proactive and comfortable working across multiple projects
This role suits someone who enjoys a process-driven, technical position with real influence over safety and compliance, rather than purely design-focused work.
