A leading firm of Chartered Accountants & Tax Advisers with offices across the region is seeking a Personal Tax Manager to support the continued growth of the Watford team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Working closely with the Tax Principals and wider team to achieve results and foster a positive team environment
  • Liaising with and meeting clients to understand and meet their requirements
  • Preparing personal, partnership, and trust tax returns for more complex clients
  • Reviewing personal tax returns, advisory work, and technical work prepared by junior team members
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities, advising clients, and assisting with implementation
  • Assisting with and responding to HMRC enquiries and compliance checks
  • Collaborating with multiple teams and Principals across the firm on ad-hoc advisory projects

About You

Ideally, you will have:

  • CTA qualified (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years’ PQE
  • Experience gained within a personal tax practice
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and support junior team members
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients, with responsibility for compliance and identifying planning opportunities
  • Good IT skills, ideally with experience using Digita tax software
  • Up-to-date technical tax knowledge, supported by recent training and practical experience
  • Strong communication skills with both clients and colleagues

  • Flexible time policy, with a combination of office and home working
  • Remuneration dependent on experience

  • Annual Christmas Bonus equivalent to one week’s salary
  • Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme (auto-enrolment subject to eligibility) | Employer: 5% | Employee: 3%
  • Private Medical Insurance following completion of 3 months’ service (taxable benefit)
  • Death in Service cover (4x salary)
  • Group Income Protection Scheme (non-contributory) following completion of 3 months’ service
  • Annual leave of 25 days per annum (pro rata), with 3 days typically taken over Christmas/New Year
