About the Firm

A growing and people-focused Chartered Accountancy Practice based in St Albans is looking to recruit an Audit Senior / Audit Supervisor to join their expanding Audit & Accounts team. The firm supports a broad portfolio of SMEs, owner-managed businesses, private clients and growing groups across a wide range of sectors. Audit represents approximately 70% of the workload within this role, alongside exposure to accounts, tax and advisory services. The firm prides itself on delivering a modern, technology-driven audit approach whilst maintaining high technical and professional standards. The Opportunity

This opportunity would suit a Newly Qualified or Part Qualified ACA / ACCA professional with at least 2+ years of UK Practice Audit experience looking to take the next step within a growing firm. You will be responsible for:

  • Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Preparing and reviewing audit files
  • Managing client relationships throughout audit assignments
  • Delivering technically strong and high-quality audit work
  • Supporting accounts preparation and wider advisory assignments

Key Responsibilities

Audit & Accounts
  • Lead statutory and voluntary audits across SME and owner-managed business clients
  • Prepare audit plans, risk assessments and materiality calculations
  • Review working papers and ensure compliance with ISAs (UK)
  • Deliver complete audit files ready for Manager review
  • Ensure assignments are completed within deadlines and budgets
  • Prepare statutory accounts and financial statements where required
Client Management
  • Act as the main point of contact during audit assignments
  • Build strong long-term client relationships
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations clearly
Team Support
  • Supervise, coach and mentor trainees and junior staff
  • Review work and provide constructive feedback
  • Support the development of a collaborative audit team environment

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified, newly qualified or part qualified
  • Have strong UK Practice Audit experience
  • Be confident leading audits from planning through to completion
  • Have experience supervising junior team members
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of FRS 102 and ISAs (UK)
  • Be organised with strong attention to detail
  • Have excellent communication and client-facing skills
