An established and growing independent accountancy practice in Cross Hills is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant / Practice Accountant to join their team. This role is ideal for an ACCA Qualified Accountant, ACA Qualified Accountant or experienced Practice Accountant who is looking to manage a varied client portfolio within a supportive and collaborative firm. The successful candidate will play a key role within the practice, working closely with partners, clients, and junior staff while delivering high-quality accounting and tax services.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant / Accounts Senior, you will manage a diverse portfolio of SME clients and take responsibility for a wide range of accounting and tax work. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparation of corporation tax and personal tax returns
- Managing and developing relationships with a portfolio of clients
- Providing support and guidance on accounting and tax queries
- Reviewing work prepared by junior members of staff
- Supporting the onboarding of new clients
- Assisting with ad-hoc projects and general practice work as required
Candidate Requirements
- ACA or ACCA Qualified Accountant (QBE candidates also considered)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Strong experience preparing accounts for SMEs, limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Ability to prepare statutory accounts to a high standard
- Experience reviewing junior staff work (desirable)
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
