An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Manager, Senior Accounts Manager or Associate Director to join a specialist accountancy firm working exclusively with businesses across the construction, property and real estate sectors. This is a senior, commercially focused position combining portfolio management, client advisory and business growth. You will manage and develop an established portfolio while helping the firm attract and onboard new construction-sector clients.

You will be supported by a team of four accountants who will complete the day-to-day accounts and compliance work. Your responsibility will be to manage the team, review the quality of their work and ensure clients receive a consistently high standard of service. Your main focus will be developing client relationships, providing commercial advice, identifying additional services and growing the firm’s recurring fee income.

THE ROLE

  • Manage and nurture a portfolio of construction-sector clients.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for clients.
  • Provide commercial, financial and strategic business advice.
  • Advise clients on CIS and construction-sector accounting matters.
  • Review accounts, tax and compliance work prepared by the team.
  • Manage, support and develop a team of four accountants.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional services to existing clients.
  • Convert qualified leads provided by the firm into new clients.
  • Develop creative ways of generating new business across the construction, property and real estate sectors.
  • Build a sustainable pipeline of new clients and recurring fees.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new clients.
  • Monitor portfolio profitability, service levels and fee recovery.
  • Attend occasional client meetings, primarily within Central England.
  • Work closely with the firm’s leadership team on its long-term growth strategy.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must have FCCA or FCA status.
  • Significant experience working within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  • Experience managing construction-sector clients.
  • Experience managing and developing a client portfolio.
  • Strong advisory, consultation and commercial skills.
  • The confidence to lead client meetings and provide strategic advice.
  • Experience reviewing accounts, tax and compliance work.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising an accounting team.
  • A commercial mindset and the confidence to help win new business.
  • The ability to convert leads and build long-term client relationships.
  • A proactive, ambitious and entrepreneurial approach.

PACKAGE AND BENEFITS

  • £55,000 - £65,000 basic salary.
