We are looking for a professional individual, who is registered as a pharmacist with the GPHC. You will be the responsible pharmacist in branch, reporting to the Operations Manager and Rota Team. You will be required to clinically and accuracy check prescriptions, provide services to our patients and provide over the counter guidance for customers.

Job responsibilities
A Pharmacist Leader works to drive the business forward and with enthusiasm aims to meet the targets, aims and goals set by the Company both professionally and commercially and to provide the customer with outstanding customer service. Actively developing and promoting enhanced and other clinical services available within the location of the pharmacy, developing the professional side of the business. Abides by the code of ethics as set by the General Pharmaceutical Council, ensuring patients are the first concern. They are involved in maintaining and improving the health of the customer by providing advice on over-the-counter medicines, the dispensing of prescriptions and the provision of public health services.
Main Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
The Pharmacist Leader has varying roles and responsibilities:

- Ensure full compliance of company policies and procedures
- Ensure the pharmacy is open for trading and dispensing of prescriptions during registered hours of opening including any rota hours
- To carry out the role of responsible pharmacist as required by the GPhC
- Clinically checking all prescriptions and ensuring that medicines are accurately dispensed and safely supplied to the patient
- Supervising the preparation of any medicines
- Ensuring that patients are offered an MUR service where applicable
- Accurately maintaining a register of controlled drugs
- Overseeing the ordering and safe storage of medical products
- Maintaining electronic records
- Supervision of selling over-the-counter medicines
- Counselling and advising the public on the treatment of minor ailments
- Advising patients of any adverse side-effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments
- Ensure that the company’s current Standard Operation Procedures are complied with, up to date and understood by all relevant staff.
- Ensuring that near-misses and dispensing errors are managed and reviewed in line with Company Policy
- Ensure the Information Governance file is read and adopted by all team members
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained according to the Information Governance file
- Liaising with doctors regarding prescriptions
- Deal with customer complaints politely and professionally to maintain goodwill
- Ensure prescriptions are fully and accurately endorsed and submitted to the appropriate pricing authority each month
- Oversee the preparation and checking of MDS systems for community patients and care homes
- Oversee the organization and running of a prescription collection and delivery service to patients
- Measuring and fitting compression hosiery
- Developing and maintaining external relationships with other healthcare professionals GPs, nurses, PCTs, LPCs
- Attend and complete any training required by the PCT to carry out local enhanced services
- Promoting and developing services to benefit the patient e.g. diabetes screening, blood pressure monitoring
- Ensuring any new available services are effectively introduced into the pharmacy
- Keeping up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses
- Attend meetings/training events organised by the Company
- Completing and maintaining a Continuous Professional Development record along with a portfolio of learning in accordance to the requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Managing, supervising and training the pharmacy team
- Ensure that records are kept and maintained of all training undertaken by staff
- Regular briefings regarding business performance, current local pharmacy initiatives/issues and store specific information should be made and recorded regularly
- Assist with ensuring one practice audit and one PCT audit are undertaken each year and outcomes are actioned
- Assist with ensuring that the Community Pharmacy Patient Questionnaire is completed on time each year and outcomes actioned
- Promoting sales of healthcare and other products and developing the business
- Stock levels for dispensary and OTC should be maintained at the agreed levels as set by the line manager
- Assist with budgeting and financial management, maximizing NHS items, OTC sales and driving the profitability within the pharmacy
- Ensure that communication from Head Office is actioned/cascaded to staff effectively
- Promote high retail, dispensary and good housekeeping standards in the pharmacy
- Assist in ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed and appropriate records are kept
- Assist in ensuring PMR systems are fully maintained and all items dispensed as PMR directs and PIs and generic are used in accordance with company policy
- Assist in ensuring IPOS is maintained as directed by Head Office
- Ensure that confidentiality of company policies and business figures statistics is maintained
- Ensure compliance with company promotional activities and stock ranging policy
- Monitor the security of all cash and stock
- Develop and maintain internal relationships within the company
- Assist in the communication with the pharmacy team any changes in working practice brought about by the General Pharmaceutical Council or by Knights Chemist
- Promote and maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the pharmacy
- Ensure the Company dress code is followed by all members of the pharmacy team
