We’re recruiting for a Project Manager to take responsibility for a number of projects we’ve recently secured, both operationally and commercially.
This is a varied, hands-on role within a smaller construction business. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, Site Managers, subcontractors and suppliers, taking ownership of projects from commencement through to completion while also supporting the commercial side of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple construction projects from commencement through to completion.
- Act as the main day-to-day point of contact for clients, maintaining strong working relationships and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard.
- Attend site and progress meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
- Oversee and coordinate Site Managers, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure works are progressing safely, efficiently and in accordance with the programme.
- Plan, organise and monitor project programmes, resources, labour and subcontractors to maintain progress and meet agreed deadlines.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, including obtaining quotations, placing orders and managing their performance throughout the project.
- Monitor project costs and commercial performance, working closely with the senior management team to identify potential issues and opportunities at an early stage.
- Assist with project pricing, tendering and the preparation of quotations for new and prospective work.
- Prepare and review subcontractor orders, valuations and payment applications.
- Assist with monthly valuations, variations, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and project cost reporting.
- Identify, price and manage variations and additional works, ensuring changes are properly recorded and agreed with the client.
- Review drawings, specifications and project information, identifying potential issues, discrepancies or opportunities before and during construction.
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, consultants and other project stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
- Monitor project quality, programme and commercial performance, escalating significant issues to senior management where appropriate.
- Attend new sites and assist with project mobilisation, planning and initial site set-up.
- Ensure appropriate project documentation, records and correspondence are maintained, including meeting minutes, instructions, variations and progress updates.
- Maintain regular communication with the office and senior management, providing clear updates on project progress, costs, risks and key issues.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company procedures, health & safety requirements and relevant legislation.
- Support the wider team with estimating, pre-construction and other commercial or operational activities as required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the successful delivery of the company’s projects.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Relevant experience within the construction industry.
- A good practical understanding of construction and confidence working within a construction environment.
- Confident dealing directly with clients, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
- Experience managing or coordinating site teams and subcontractors.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and professional emails and project documentation.
- Commercially aware and comfortable working with project costs and figures. Previous QS or commercial experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Confident, proactive and able to work independently while also working effectively as part of a wider team.
- Strong attention to detail with a practical, problem-solving approach.
- Relevant construction qualification or degree desirable but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence.
Job Title: Project Manager
Employment Type: Permanent – Full time
Location: Wrexham Head Office / Site
Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 08:00am – 16:30pm & Friday 08:00am – 16:00pm (With a 30-minute lunch break each day)
Salary: £45k plus per annum (Negotiable dependent on experience)
