A leading independent prep school in Hertfordshire is seeking a Director of Music for September 2026. This is a full time and permanent role.
This independent prep school is a thriving, busy school enjoying a famous reputation in its field. The School prepares children for entry, at both 13+ and 11+, into the leading independent senior schools. The School prides itself in academic excellence, whilst being non-selective at entry. The pupils have achieved outstanding results and have competed successfully for scholarships and awards at prestigious Senior Schools. At the same time the School provides excellent pastoral care, to ensure that pupils flourish in line with our ethos of encouraging them to be confident, happy and successful.
The Head is seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and enthusiastic Director of Music who will lead the Music Department and will build on all the successes that the pupils and staff have achieved. The role will entail teaching Music across the School from Reception to Year 8 and Music is one of the key areas in which the school's pupils excel. Pupils have gained some of the most prestigious music scholarships at Senior Schools and have consistently excelled at recognised examinations, such as ABRSM and Trinity College of Music. For everyone at the School playing music and singing is fun. The children simply enjoy learning and performing, with astounding success.
You will also be responsible for leading and organising the department, orchestras and groups. It is hoped you will be proficient in the piano and able to accompany.
