As a Backend Engineer, you’ll build the secure, scalable systems that power Kneu's products. You’ll work on services and infrastructure that clinicians rely on for decision-making, enable patients to access impactful tools day to day, and support data science workflows that unlock new insights for research and care.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Build and maintain backend services that are secure, reliable, and scalable
- Design and develop REST APIs for mobile and/or web applications
- Contribute to distributed systems and microservice architectures
- Support database design (SQL) and backend architecture decisions
- Improve release processes and deployment workflows
- Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
Requirements:
- 2+ years backend engineering commercial experience
- 1+ year commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with microservices and distributed systems
- Solid understanding of SQL databases, backend architecture, and release processes
- Interest in growing DevOps capability (e.g., Terraform, CI/CD, AWS deployments)
- Applicants must have the right to work in the UK

- Experience with Python (scripting, automation, data workflows, lightweight services)
