Renowned for its estate-to-plate philosophy, this award-winning destination combines exceptional hospitality with outstanding seasonal food, using produce harvested from its own kitchen gardens alongside the very best local suppliers. Working within a large, well-structured brigade, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences while continuing to develop your own career.

This position would suit either an experienced Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous Chef ready to take the next step.

The kitchen works closely with the estate's own gardens and trusted local producers, creating refined British dishes that showcase the very best of Yorkshire produce.

You'll be joining a supportive brigade where training, progression and teamwork are genuinely valued.

The Role

Working alongside the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef, you'll help oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining consistently high standards while supporting and developing the wider team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen
  • Leading the brigade during service and in the Head Chef's absence
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of food quality and consistency
  • Assisting with stock control, ordering and kitchen organisation
  • Working with outstanding seasonal produce from the estate and local suppliers
  • Supporting, coaching and developing junior chefs
  • Contributing ideas towards seasonal menu development and daily specials
  • Ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef within a quality fresh-food kitchen
  • Experience in a quality restaurant, luxury hotel or premium gastropub
  • A passion for seasonal British produce and modern cooking
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and a positive, hands-on attitude
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification
  • A genuine desire to develop and progress within a quality-driven kitchen
