An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Junior Sous Chef to join one of Hertfordshire's most respected independent food-led pubs. This role is ideal for an existing Junior Sous Chef or a strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to take the next step in their career within a quality-driven environment.
The Venue: This award-winning independent restaurant has built an outstanding reputation for combining the traditions of a classic British pub with contemporary seasonal cooking. The kitchen works closely with some of the UK's best suppliers, producing menus that showcase exceptional ingredients, strong technique, and a commitment to continual improvement. Operating Wednesday evening through to Sunday lunch, the business offers a structured working week that is increasingly rare within hospitality.
The Role: Working closely with the Chef Patron and senior kitchen team, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the leadership of the kitchen during prep and service
- Running sections confidently and maintaining consistency throughout service
- Assisting with menu development, testing, and seasonal changes
- Supporting ordering, stock control, and kitchen organisation
- Training and developing junior members of the brigade
- Maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and food safety
- Contributing ideas and helping drive continuous improvement throughout the operation
This is a hands-on role offering genuine responsibility and the opportunity to learn from an ambitious and experienced team.
About You: Current Junior Sous Chef or strong Senior Chef de Partie. Experience within Michelin Guide, Rosette, or quality fresh-food kitchens. Working Pattern: One of the major attractions of this role is the structured rota:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday: Evening service only
- Thursday to Saturday: Lunch and dinner service
- Sunday: Lunch service only
