An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a talented Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at one of the Scottish Highlands’ most distinctive luxury hotels.

Set in a spectacular coastal location and operating at 2 AA Rosette level, this is a hotel where food, hospitality and the wider guest experience go hand in hand. The kitchen is built around the best of Scotland’s natural larder, with a strong focus on seasonal produce, bold flavours and thoughtful cooking that reflects both the landscape and the standards of a high-end country house operation.

This is a genuine opportunity for a strong Sous Chef to join a small, ambitious brigade and play a key role in the continued development of the food offering, while enjoying a lifestyle and benefits package rarely found in hospitality.

This is a luxury Highland hotel offering guests a full experience built around:

  • high-quality dining at 2 AA Rosette standard
  • exceptional Scottish produce and seasonality
  • fine wines, whisky and warm, personal hospitality
  • a destination setting with country pursuits and a genuine sense of place
  • a close-knit, independent team culture

The food is produce-led and flavour-focused, with the freedom to be creative while still delivering the consistency and polish expected of a quality-led hotel operation.

The Role

Working closely with the Head Chef, you will act as a key leader within the brigade and help drive standards across all aspects of the kitchen.

You will:

  • Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
  • Lead service confidently and deputise in the Head Chef’s absence
  • Help manage ordering, stock control, supplier relationships and kitchen organisation
  • Support menu development using outstanding Scottish produce
  • Train, mentor and motivate junior members of the team
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, presentation and hygiene
  • Contribute to a positive kitchen culture built around professionalism, collaboration and development

This is a hands-on role for a chef who enjoys both cooking and leadership, and who wants to be part of a business with clear ambitions for the future.

About You

  • Current Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef ready to step up
  • Experience within 2 AA Rosette, Michelin Guide or equivalent quality-led kitchens
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor younger chefs
  • Passionate about seasonal produce and Scottish ingredients
  • Organised, calm and commercially aware
  • Positive, grounded and team-focused in your approach
  • Looking for a long-term role within a quality independent business

The Package

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Tronc / service charge on top
  • Overtime paid where applicable
  • 40-hour contract
  • Subsidised staff accommodation available
  • Potential accommodation suitable for a couple depending on availability
  • Gym membership
  • Team-building programme and staff perks
  • Significant long-term progression opportunities
  • Fully paid time off throughout January
  • The chance to live and work in one of the UK’s most stunning locations

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to join a luxury Highland hotel that offers:

  • 2 AA Rosette food standards
  • serious quality of life and work-life balance
  • subsidised live-in accommodation
  • a close-knit and ambitious kitchen team
  • excellent Scottish produce and creative freedom
