An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Pastry Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team at a luxury country house hotel in Cumbria, working within its 1 Michelin Star and 4 AA Rosette restaurant. This position is being created specifically around the right pastry chef rather than filling an existing vacancy. The Chef-Patron is looking for someone with the ability and ambition to develop with the business over the longer term, with a clear pathway towards becoming a Pastry Sous Chef and ultimately taking greater responsibility for the Michelin-starred pastry operation.
The Role
- Supporting the preparation and delivery of pastry and desserts for the restaurant
- Working to 1 Michelin Star and 4 AA Rosette standards
- Developing strong technical pastry skills under an experienced senior team
- Maintaining consistency, precision and attention to detail
- Taking responsibility for preparation, service and organisation within the pastry section
- Maintaining exceptional food hygiene and kitchen standards
- Working collaboratively with the wider brigade
- Supporting junior chefs where appropriate
- Continuing to develop towards increased responsibility within the pastry operation
The Chef-Patron is specifically interested in someone looking for a long-term move, ideally remaining with the restaurant for at least the next couple of years while progressing technically and professionally. His intention is to develop the successful chef towards Pastry Sous Chef level, with the potential eventually to run the pastry section.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has previous professional pastry experience
- Has experience within Michelin, AA Rosette or similarly quality-driven kitchens
- Has strong technical foundations and excellent attention to detail
- Is ambitious and wants structured long-term development
- Takes pride in precision, flavour, texture and presentation
- Is organised and comfortable working within a high-standard kitchen
- Wants to progress beyond CDP level into pastry leadership
- Is open to relocating to Cumbria for the right opportunity
The Package
- £32,000 salary
- Full-time, permanent position
- 1 Michelin Star / 4 AA Rosette environment
- Relocation assistance can be offered where required
- 28 days' holiday including bank holidays
- Free parking / on-site parking
- Employee food and beverage discounts
- Staff food benefits
- Long-term development towards Pastry Sous Chef
- Opportunity ultimately to take significant responsibility for the restaurant's pastry operation
Why This Role?
The biggest attraction here is the development pathway. Rather than simply recruiting another Pastry CDP, the Chef-Patron has identified the opportunity to build a role around the right person and develop them over the coming years. For an ambitious pastry chef, that means the chance to work every day within a 1 Michelin Star, 4 AA Rosette kitchen, develop under an accomplished senior team and work towards becoming the chef responsible for pastry at Michelin-star level.
