Baker

5-Star Luxury Country House Hotel | World-Class Pastry Kitchen

Ascot, Berkshire

Competitive Salary + Service Charge
Luxury Hotel | Exceptional Training | International Career Development

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Baker to join the pastry kitchen of one of the UK's most prestigious 5-star luxury country house hotels.

Set within hundreds of acres of beautiful Berkshire countryside near Ascot, this internationally renowned property operates at the very highest level of luxury hospitality, with multiple restaurants, afternoon tea, private dining, events and extensive hotel operations.

Working as part of the dedicated pastry kitchen, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day bakery production while supporting the Head Pastry Chef and helping maintain the exceptional consistency expected across the hotel.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a baker looking to take their craft into a world-class luxury hotel environment with exceptional training and long-term career development.

The Hotel & Pastry Operation

The pastry kitchen supports a substantial and varied luxury hotel operation, requiring consistently exceptional standards across multiple outlets and services.

Rather than simply working a production role, you'll be trusted to help organise and operate the bakery, planning production effectively around the requirements of the wider hotel.

The position sits within the Pastry Kitchen and reports into the senior pastry operation, with responsibility for maintaining quality and consistency while also helping train and develop other members of the team.

The Role

As Baker, you'll help oversee the daily running and production of the bakery, ensuring everything leaving the section consistently meets the standards expected within a leading 5-star hotel.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and organising daily bakery production
  • Taking responsibility for the effective running of your section
  • Producing consistently high-quality bakery products for the hotel's various outlets
  • Working closely with the Head Pastry Chef and wider pastry team
  • Carrying out daily quality checks across ingredients, stock and finished products
  • Maintaining exceptional consistency across all bakery production
  • Supporting the training, supervision and development of junior team members
  • Organising production around changing hotel and guest requirements
  • Maintaining an exceptionally clean, organised and professional working environment
  • Following all food-safety, HACCP, labelling and hygiene procedures
  • Completing regular deep cleaning and maintaining excellent section standards
  • Supporting the wider pastry operation wherever required

The internal specification makes clear that this is someone capable of independently planning the day-to-day running of their section, rather than simply following a daily production list.

About You

We're looking for an accomplished baker who has:

  • Previous professional bakery experience within a quality hotel, restaurant or comparable environment
  • Strong practical bakery and production skills
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene
  • Confidence organising and planning daily production
  • Consistently high standards and excellent attention to detail
  • Experience supporting or training junior team members
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to respond flexibly to changing business requirements
  • A professional and collaborative approach
  • Genuine pride in producing consistently exceptional products

NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent professional qualifications would be advantageous, alongside relevant COSHH and food-safety knowledge.

The Package

  • Competitive salary + service charge
  • Work within one of the UK's leading 5-star luxury hotels
  • Exceptional professional training and development
  • Personalised career development opportunities
  • Access to structured learning and academy programmes
  • Opportunity to develop within an internationally renowned luxury hotel collection
  • Outstanding working environment in the Berkshire countryside
  • Long-term career progression within luxury hospitality

Why This Role?

For a serious baker, this is an opportunity to take your skills into a completely different level of hospitality.

You'll be responsible for helping run the bakery within a world-class 5-star hotel, producing to exacting standards while gaining exposure to a substantial pastry operation and working alongside highly experienced chefs.

Just as importantly, this isn't simply a production position. You'll have responsibility for planning, quality control, consistency and developing other members of the team, making it a strong career move for an experienced baker looking to progress within luxury hospitality.
