We are welcoming applications from enthusiastic Commis Chefs ahead of the opening of a high-profile, ingredient-led restaurant in Birmingham city centre. This is an excellent opportunity to build strong foundations in a professional kitchen within a group known for quality, consistency, and well-structured development. The restaurant will operate breakfast, lunch, and dinner, focusing on fresh, seasonal produce and well-executed cooking.
The Role
As Commis Chef, you will support the brigade with daily preparation and service, learning core skills while working alongside experienced chefs in a fast-paced but supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with prep and mise en place for all services
- Preparing ingredients and supporting basic cooking under supervision
- Maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and food safety standards
- Learning knife skills, portioning, timing, and kitchen procedures
- Supporting senior chefs during service
- Helping with stock rotation and basic kitchen tasks
About You
- Some kitchen experience preferred, though strong trainees or apprentices are welcome
- Eager to learn, reliable, and able to take direction
- Good attention to detail and pride in your work
- Calm attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Comfortable working a 48-hour week on a 4 on / 4 off rota
