Kneeshaws 2018 Ltd, are an established and highly regarded independent firm of chartered accountants and registered auditors based in Burnley. With a total staff of 20 we have a varied portfolio of clients from multi-million pound turnover companies to sole traders. We have built an outstanding reputation for supporting both businesses and individuals in all sectors of Accountancy, taxation and business development.

Due to continued growth, we are now seeking to recruit a Bookkeeper to join our practice situated in Burnley town centre.

The role

We are looking to appoint a capable and proactive Bookkeeper to be office based with our team in Burnley. This position will see you taking ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring all financial records are maintained with accuracy and professionalism.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing purchase and sales ledgers, including the preparation and posting of invoices using various client software.
  • Completing bank reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
  • Assisting with accounts preparation to trial balance stage (desirable).
  • Processing of journals into client software.
  • Maintaining organised financial records and supporting general office/accounting tasks.

About you

  • Preferably AAT qualified (or qualified by experience).
  • At least 2 years experience in a similar bookkeeping role.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working both as a team member and autonomously.
  • Confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Experienced in using accounting software packages particularly Xero.
  • Previous accountancy practice experience is not essential.
