We are currently looking for a Welder (Bridges).

About The Role: As our business evolves, we are looking to strengthen our workforce with talented and motivated individuals across a range of disciplines to work from our Northwest Engineering Centre of Excellence. This is a great opportunity to join a world-class organisation, delivering a secured long-term contract to the UK MoD. The core purpose of this job function is to work as an Aluminium MIG Welder in our state-of-the-art facility as part of a dedicated team to manufacture equipment for the defence industry. Operators will be required to use jigs and fixtures to manufacture components complying with engineering drawings and work instructions.

Key Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Compliance with the Environmental, Health and Safety Policy and identify health and safety hazards prior to the start of work.
  • Welding Aluminium using MIG in line with weld procedures and drawing requirements.
  • Reporting via approved Maintenance Reporting Procedures any equipment fault or unusual occurrences.
  • Using drawings, work instructions to complete all tasks and ensure through visual/non-destructive inspection that the fabricated component conforms to the drawing.
  • Using hand tools and the appropriate measuring instruments to each task.
  • Completion of European qualification of welder approval tests on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring personal safety and the safety of other employees is not compromised by their actions and to apply all applicable safety requirements in compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Booking of hours performing duties on a MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system, SAP.

What We’re Looking For:

With a Recognised Time Served Apprenticeship in Welding or a similar discipline and also have an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent. You should hold Welding qualifications to ISO 9606 parts 1 and/or 2, and holding ISO 14732 is desirable. We also need you to have previous experience of practical welding/fitting in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment.
