The departure of one of our colleagues in the Innovation Department means we are now looking to recruit a new Junior Technologist in St Helens (UK) reporting to the Blowing Wool Product Development Manager.

Can you help manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to rapidly changing priorities? Can you stay flexible and respond effectively to shifting demands in a fast-paced environment? Can you handle physically demanding tasks across diverse settings, including laboratories, factories, and customer sites? Can you maintain a clean and efficient laboratory environment while proactively planning equipment maintenance to minimize downtime?

As Junior Technologist, you would be supporting the Product Development Manager in conducting laboratory tests and providing technical expertise to central teams. You'll also gain in-depth knowledge of Knauf Insulation products and their testing processes to drive innovation and excellence.

What you'll be doing:

  • Conduct laboratory testing and benchmarking programs to support product development and analyse insulation materials (blowing wool and cured products ranges) based on EN standards or customer requirements.
  • Assist with plant trials for new product developments and coordinate support projects across internal departments.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, manage stock, and ensure a clean, efficient lab environment through routine maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement programs, propose changes, and complete training projects to support business and department goals.
  • Collaborate with internal customers, hold stakeholder meetings, and provide technical insights to drive innovation and business success.

What we'd love for you to have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a science or engineering discipline is much appreciated (but not mandatory).
  • Previous experience in a similar position is an asset but this job is more of an entry-level position.
  • Demonstrate an openness to innovation and technical creativity.
  • Exhibit good data manipulation and data reporting skills.
  • Ability to use statistical tools (such as Minitab).
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Physically fit and able to carry out installations which may include climbing ladders, setting up machinery and loading hoppers with up to 17.6kg bales.
  • Proficient in English; any other language proficiency is nice to have.
  • Willing to travel about 30% of your time (across Europe mainly).

Your personality counts a lot for us: Flexible and adaptable, able to thrive in changing environments and shifting priorities. Autonomous with the ability to take initiative and work independently. Strong time management skills and the ability to identify and focus on immediate priorities. Resilient and robust, comfortable working in challenging or physically demanding environments. Outgoing and confident, with the ability to generate ideas and communicate effectively.

We will provide:

As this is a central, international position, the package and associated benefits will be those of the contract's host country. Our common criterion was to build a comprehensive salary package that stands out in the market. On top of that, a dedicated time for personal development and potential for leadership training will be provided.

What happens next? We appreciate that your time is precious and applying for a new job can be a lengthy process - so we have committed to replying to your application within five working days.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion (D&I) reinforces our Knauf Insulation values of Making Tomorrow a Home for all of us. We are committed to creating a workplace where we all can thrive, whoever we are, and inspiring a culture of inclusion and innovation that will drive future business success. We do our best to make sure being at work feels like home.
