The expansion of the Manufacture Excellency Department means we are now looking for a Central Control & Process Improvement Engineer, to be based in St‑Helen, UK, or Visé Belgium or Skofja Loka, Slovenia and reporting to the Maintenance & Best Practice Manager.

Can you support problem solving process based on data? Can you demonstrate experience in Continuous Improvement (CI) process? Can you build strategy for process improvement and share best practices?

As a Central Control & Process Improvement Engineer you’d support all plants deficiencies that has been identified centrally or by plant, highlighting a scope for improvement in any part of their process. Deliverables will usually include agreement on a clear statement of the problem or improvement opportunity, agreement on what success looks like and how to measure it, a structured and data-based problem solving process and interim and/or final report(s) detailing the outcome. Wherever practical the annualized financial benefit of the improvement will be estimated.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Complete a monthly report on best practices and Improvements
  • Help develop engineering designs through Process improvement changes
  • Create written reports for technical specifications on any Improvement project to maximize standardization for best practices and knowledge sharing.
  • Support all control issues remotely or on site
  • Actively promote the CI culture within all plants and act as the liaison between the Project team ensuring equipment (new or modified) is handed over to the plant on time and safely
  • Ensure all documentation is maintained as current and transferred to the VAULT drawing system
  • Multiple Control and Process improvements to be managed at the same time with limited resource.
  • Achieving the agreed completion dates while adhering to compliant standards in health and safety.
  • Maintaining composure under the pressures and frustrations inherent in a fast moving ‘output’ focused environment.
  • Dealing with constraints on deployment of tasks to individuals who have varying skill sets, backgrounds, experience and attitudes.
  • Dealing with differing personalities within teams and adapting style to maximize effectiveness.
  • Keeping up to date with new techniques & technologies to enable the site to maximize its potential.

Expected business travels is 30% of time.

What we’d love for you to have:

  • An experienced engineer background with a degree or equivalent knowledge through experience in automation, electricity, process or control engineering.
  • The ability to drive project and process improvements by IP management. Must have a strong technical understanding of PLC’s, Drives, Networks & Mechanics.
  • Highly tuned people management skills along with strong communication skills.
  • Experienced in the application of Health & Safety procedures with an understanding of the principles of Employment and Safety at Work Legislation & PUWER Regulations.
  • Demonstrable achievements in Continuous Improvement, Change Management disciplines, tools and techniques and evident motivation to impart these to others.
  • Use of a leadership style that creates confidence and commitment across a range of work groups rather than simply with own department.
  • IOSH Safety Qualification or ideally NEBOSH certificate.
  • Flexibility in terms of travel, break & finish times to suit the needs of the business.
  • The flexibility to carry out any task as requested within their capability (training, competence).
  • Data driven mindset & is result focused. Strives to make the change!
  • A proactive mind-set and excellent planning skill.
  • Language skills: Fluent in English; French, German and Dutch will be considered as an asset.
