As a Shift Support Operator you will ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the Queensferry production, recycling, and waste processes to meet product, quality, environmental, and energy targets.
What you’ll be doing
- Safe operations: Operate recycling and waste management plant and equipment (e.g., balers, conveyors) in line with site procedures, permits, and PPE requirements.
- Material handling: Operate a counterbalance forklift truck to load, unload, and move materials safely around site; maintain accurate staging and stock movements where required.
- Quality control: Where trained, carry out product quality checks to confirm compliance with specifications in the product specification database; record and escape nonconformities promptly.
- Compliance with systems of work: Follow all SOPs, work instructions, and risk controls, including isolation/lock-out procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Flexible support: Provide adaptable support across production areas, undertaking tasks for which you are trained to maintain throughput and product quality.
- Basic maintenance: Perform pre-start checks, routine cleaning, and minor adjustments; identify and report defects to minimise downtime.
- Shutdown activities: During production shutdowns, complete planned cleaning routines and assist with start-up readiness.
- Shift cover: Provide cover on other shifts in emergency circumstances (e.g., sickness, training), supporting a reliable operation.
- Health, safety, environment, and energy: Comply with and actively promote all HSE and energy requirements; challenge and report unsafe acts and conditions to prevent incidents.
