As a Mechanical Craftsman, you will maximise the operating efficiency of the plant whilst maintaining plant assets.

  • What you’ll be doing…
  • Be responsible for all Mechanical Maintenance activities in providing a continuous 24‑hour maintenance service for all process and ancillary support equipment and services, in order to maximise area Plant availability and Production capability.
  • Co‑ordinate the maintenance activities within a specified area of the plant.
  • Work in close liaison with managers.
  • Allocate parts and prioritise work to maximise effectiveness of engineering resources.
  • Assist Engineering Manager in the control of outside contractors introduced into the area (e. g. dropshifts, development projects, major repair projects), to meet specific work requirements.
  • Responsible for regular testing and maintenance of all Mechanical services and associated standby equipment providing Process and Plant Protection.
  • Improve the net operating efficiency of the designated area of the plant.
  • Proactive approach to spare part asset management.
  • Enforce safe working practices to ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner. Provide and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for the implementation and development of mechanical maintenance routines for the designated areas.
  • Ensure that spare parts are correctly stocked and appropriate.
  • Generate and implement (where applicable) innovations in the area.
  • Carry out training of others when needed.
  • Engage in plant C. I Activities.

Added advantage if you have any of the following

  • Experience of mechanical maintenance in a heavy, continuous manufacturing process.
  • Time served apprentice or ONC / HNC qualifications.
  • Multi‑skill trained with knowledge of Pneumatics, Hydraulic and Sub‑Assembly builds.
  • Willingness to develop, guide and mentor those around you including apprentices.
  • Proven effective management and communication skills.
  • Preferably knowledge of SAP PM.
