We are working with an established global manufacturer of power generation and energy solutions to recruit an Area Sales Manager covering the South of the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales professional to take ownership of a significant territory, developing existing customer relationships while identifying and winning new business across the hire, construction, industrial and associated markets.

The business manufactures a broad range of equipment including mobile and portable generators, commercial and industrial power solutions, lighting towers and battery energy storage systems. The variety of the product range means one day you could be discussing a fleet of mobile generators and lighting towers with a hire company, the next a larger standby power solution with a commercial customer, portable generators with a dealer or newer battery storage and hybrid power solutions.

The Role

  • Developing and growing existing customer accounts across the territory
  • Identifying, targeting and winning new business
  • Promoting a broad portfolio of power generation and associated equipment
  • Building strong relationships across the hire, construction, dealer and industrial markets
  • Taking ownership of regional sales and turnover targets
  • Managing negotiations and commercial proposals
  • Maintaining and developing a strong sales pipeline
  • Forecasting and analysing sales performance
  • Monitoring market activity and competitor developments
  • Maintaining accurate CRM and sales reporting

About You

  • We are looking for an experienced and driven sales professional with a strong track record of developing customer relationships and growing revenue.
  • Previous power generation experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
  • A proven background in field-based B2B sales
  • Experience developing both existing accounts and new business
  • Strong longevity and a demonstrable track record within previous employers
  • Experience selling into hire, construction, industrial or associated markets
  • A relationship-led, face-to-face approach to sales
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing a territory and sales target
  • The ability to understand and confidently sell technical products
  • A self-motivated approach and the ability to manage a large geographical territory
  • Strong communication, negotiation and customer relationship skills
  • A full UK driving licence

This is an opportunity to join a highly established international manufacturer with a broad and evolving product portfolio, including traditional power generation alongside battery storage and hybrid energy solutions. The salary for this position ranges from £35,000 to £60,000 depending on experience, with the opportunity to earn up to 20% bonus. Importantly, the business is open to applicants across a range of sales experience levels. Whether you are an established Area Sales Manager with significant industry experience or earlier in your sales career and ready to take the next step, the salary and package can be tailored to reflect your experience. What matters most is having the right attitude, drive and ability to build relationships, alongside the appetite to learn the product range and develop a successful territory.
