We are working on behalf of a leading national plant hire company who are currently recruiting for a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide range of mobile plant and heavy equipment across multiple sites. This is a field-based role requiring strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, inspect, and maintain mobile plant equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
  • Attend on-site breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime
  • Work on equipment such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and forklifts
  • Complete job cards, reports, and maintenance records accurately
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
  • Carry out pre-start checks and routine inspections
  • Liaise with site teams regarding repairs and equipment status

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems
  • Experience with heavy mobile equipment (construction, quarrying, or industrial sectors)
  • NVQ in Land Based Engineering or Plant Maintenance (or equivalent qualification)
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site
