A leading regional law firm with several offices is seeking a Risk and Compliance Manager to join their office in London.
Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking a Risk and Compliance Manager to work alongside the Head of Risk, two existing Risk and Compliance Managers, and an Assistant.
Responsibilities include:
- Advising fee earners on professional conduct matters including conflicts of interest, ethics, the SRA Standards and Regulations, and the SRA Accounts Rules
- Monitoring compliance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct, including introduction and referral arrangements and vetting of new schemes
- Managing claims against the firm: liaising with professional indemnity insurers, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and processing payments and receipts on nominal accounts
- Drafting, reviewing, and updating risk management policies and procedures
- Conducting compliance audits of practice groups, providing feedback, and monitoring matter-specific risk management plans
- Coordinating the firm’s Lexcel accreditation assessment and application
- Assisting with the annual professional indemnity insurance renewal, liaising with Accounts on premium payments, and handling insurance-related queries from fee earners
- Delivering induction training for new joiners and ongoing training to the firm on risk-related matters
- Supervising the Risk and Compliance Assistant
- Collaborating with Marketing and Business Development to ensure compliance with Law Society guidance and SRA rules

This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in legal sector regulation, including Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements, anti-money laundering (AML) obligations, and data protection legislation. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in law, business, or a related discipline. You will have substantial experience in a risk and compliance role within a law firm, with a proven track record of developing and implementing compliance frameworks. The candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of SRA regulatory requirements, AML and sanctions legislation, data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), and professional conduct rules.
