About Klyk

At Klyk, we’re on a mission to eliminate waste from the business technology ecosystem. As a certified B Corp, we help modern companies adopt a Circular IT model — reducing cost, carbon emissions, and operational complexity across their entire device lifecycle.

We provide:

  • IT asset management
  • Sustainable hardware procurement
  • IT support services
  • Cybersecurity and strategic advisory

Our customers include some of the UK’s most impactful and high-growth organisations — including B Lab UK, Wild, THIS, SURI, and Field Energy.

Now, we’re building the next evolution of Klyk: a modern platform that brings together IT, hardware, cybersecurity, automation, and AI — all in one place.

The Role

We’re looking for a Founding (Senior) Software Engineer to build and shape the Klyk platform from zero-to-one. This is a foundational position with significant autonomy, where you’ll work directly with the co-founders to design and ship core systems that power the future of our IT, hardware, and cyber offerings.

As an early technical hire, you will influence everything from architecture and tooling to engineering culture and long-term product direction. Expect variety, ownership, and the opportunity to help define how a modern, sustainable IT platform should work.

This role suits someone who thrives in early-stage environments, enjoys solving ambiguous problems, and wants to work on meaningful technology that has both business and environmental impact.

Location: Our office in London, Acton

Start: ASAP

What You’ll Do

  • Build the Core Platform
    • Design and implement foundational features across our internal and customer-facing tools.
    • Build systems that improve operational efficiency, elevate customer experience, and support our sustainability mission.
    • Help define our technical strategy, architecture, and best practices.
  • Partner Across Teams
    • Work closely with Support, Ops, Cyber, Sales, and Leadership to understand pain points and opportunities.
    • Translate real business needs into simple, scalable products and internal workflows.
    • Contribute to a unified, forward-looking platform that connects all parts of the business.
  • Drive Product & Engineering Direction
    • Help shape the product roadmap with a builder’s mindset.
    • Own projects end-to-end — from idea to shipped feature.
    • Bring creativity, technical insight, and initiative to everything we build.
  • Improve Tooling & Automation
    • Identify inefficiencies in our internal systems and design better ways of working.
    • Evaluate and integrate third-party tools to enhance performance and scale.
    • Use AI and automation thoughtfully to streamline operations and support the business.

You May Be a Fit If You…

  • Have strong programming skills with 5+ years of experience
  • Have a strong track record of solving difficult problems in either an academic or industrial setting
  • Have a strong track record displaying the ability to manage engineering workflows (e.g. building robust and scalable products and working with customers, etc.)
  • Have experience working with cloud infrastructure providers and database technologies (e.g. SQL/no-SQL)
  • Can self-organise and work independently
  • Are based in, or willing to relocate to London.
  • Are excited by zero-to-one building and high ownership.
  • Can work across the stack and learn quickly in unfamiliar areas.
  • Enjoy turning loosely defined problems into clear, practical solutions.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and async, and value collaboration.
  • Care about sustainability and want your work to have real-world impact.
  • Are comfortable in fast-moving, unstructured environments.

Nice-to-haves (none required)

  • Experience in SaaS platforms, IT systems, automation, or cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as React/Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript.
  • Experience in device lifecycle management or IT support.

Why Join Klyk?

  • Purpose-driven work - Make a measurable impact on reducing e-waste and transforming how businesses use technology.
  • Build something meaningful - Help create the platform that powers a new generation of sustainable, automated IT services.
  • Autonomy and trust - Work directly with founders and influence decisions from day one.
  • Experienced Co-Founder team - Experienced Founder Team across Software Development, IT & Cyber & Business scaling
  • Continuous learning - Get exposure to product strategy, operations, sales, cyber, AI, and the realities of building a fast-growing business.
  • Values-led culture - As a B Corp, we prioritise flexibility, fairness, environmental impact, and long-term thinking.

Why You Shouldn’t Apply

  • You need rigid structure and fixed specifications
  • You want a large team around you from day one
  • You prefer maintaining systems over building new ones
  • You’re not comfortable owning outcomes end-to-end

If the idea of building something new, scrappy, and impactful excites you — not scares you — then you’ll thrive at Klyk.

How to Apply

Please email software-engineer@helloyklyk.com with your answers to the following questions:

  • Describe the largest or most complex system you personally designed and saw through to production. What key decision did you make regarding technology (database, language, cloud service) that prevented a major scaling crisis later on?
  • Summarise a time when you had to ship a critical feature or project under extreme time pressure (e.g., 48 hours). What essential piece of infrastructure or testing did you intentionally cut or postpone to meet the deadline, and how did you mitigate the risk?
  • Describe a significant contribution you made that was not writing feature code. What measurable benefit did this contribution have on the engineering team's efficiency?
