Pale Fire Capital is a private equity investment group with a global presence. We have built global digital platforms, physical manufacturing companies, and led firms on the American NASDAQ. We are expanding our investment ambitions and targeting €400M in private equity over the next few years, primarily focusing on European companies with a healthy core and potential for transformation.

We are not a classic corporate fund. We are investors and entrepreneurs - we stand behind our business with our own name and assets. We do not force companies to exit in five years. We build market leaders, not just numbers for IRR reports. We invest our own resources and choose when to enter a company and when is the right moment to exit, building companies with a long-term vision and commitment.

Our team includes people with experience from Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and LSE, and we have built and managed over 20 technology companies. We have experience with active ownership - we are not just 'money in a spreadsheet', we actively enter companies and change them.

Technology and AI are part of our DNA, not a marketing buzzword. Dušan Šenkypl, Partner at PFC, is among the leading advocates of AI in business in the Czech Republic. Internally, we have an AI engineer, work with tools like Claude or Gemini, and automate routine tasks daily to have time for strategy and real decision-making.

We take ownership – we take things personally. We do not wait for instructions; we think, propose, and follow through. We value speed and iteration – we do not aim for a perfect first version. We try, refine, and push forward. We maintain directness – minimum politics, maximum openness. We say things as they are. Our hands-on approach means we are not just 'investors at the table'. We execute and improve companies.

We think long-term – we do not build companies for a quick exit but create lasting value. We have an AI-first mindset – we actively consider what should be done by humans and what by machines. Automation is a tool, not a buzzword. Our team is small, senior, and straightforward. Everyone has a real impact, which also means high demands and expectations – but also very rapid learning and growth.

Why we are looking for someone: We have a track record of investments and see further opportunities across markets. We are expanding our team and looking for someone who wants to grow with us long-term. An internship with us is not a 'trial'. It is an entry point for those who want to gradually take on responsibility and participate in investment decisions.

What you will do:

  • Participate in how we think about investments - from the first idea to the decision.
  • Sourcing & analysis - searching for and evaluating investment opportunities.
  • Company, market, and business model analysis - working with information and building context.
  • Investment thinking – preparing your own investment theses / stock pitch.
  • Formulating opinions and defending them.
  • Data & modelling - working with data (Excel, possibly Python / R).
  • Financial modelling and working with numbers in context.
  • Communication & research - communicating with companies and gathering market information.

It is not just about 'processing materials'. We expect your own opinion and the ability to defend it.

What to expect:

  • Work across various types of investments.
  • A combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Projects from local markets to global themes.
  • Fast exposure to real decision-making.
  • An environment where work does not end in a presentation but has a real impact.

Who we are looking for (must-have & pluses):

  • Someone who wants to think in contexts and go deep.
  • Student at the end of studies (Bachelor / Master), ideally graduating this year.
  • Ability to be physically present in Prague and come to the office (at least part-time).
  • Interest in investing, business, and financial markets.
  • Solid Excel skills.
  • English at C1/C2 level.
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to structure problems.
  • Curiosity and the ability to ask questions.
  • AI-native approach and positive mindset.
  • Experience with investing (own portfolio, projects).
  • Interest in specific sectors or investment themes.

Why PFC: We are not a place where you will do 'intern tasks'. From the beginning, you will work on real things and see their impact. You will be in contact with people who actually make investments - not just analyse them. The goal is to transition from trainee to full-time employment. You will work on real investments and have room for growth.

How the selection process works:

  • Initial interview with HR.
  • Final round with the analytical team.

Want to join us? Send your CV and add a few details about yourself - what motivates you, how you think about investments, and why PFC makes sense for you.
