Overview
In this role you will lead the Featherstone site’s health, safety and environmental performance, embedding a mature safety culture and compliant operations. You’ll partner with site leadership to integrate HSE into daily decisions and drive continuous improvement. Expect to manage risk, investigations and training, while advancing sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance. Your impact spans culture, risk reduction and a safer, more sustainable site that supports the company’s mission. You will influence operations with practical safety leadership and measurable outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the site HSE strategy in line with kp standards and UK legislation, advising on operational decisions
- Build a mature safety culture by coaching managers and supervisors and promoting accountability
- Ensure compliance and management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, BRCGS where applicable) with inspections, audits and assurance
- Lead risk identification, assessment and control, and conduct high-quality incident investigations
- Develop competency and training programmes (induction, refresher, risk-specific) to empower employees to identify hazards
- Oversee emergency preparedness (fire, evacuation, first aid, crisis) and drive environmental compliance and sustainability improvements
- Analyse leading/lagging indicators (TRIR, incidents, near-misses, audits) to drive continual improvement
Key requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6); working towards or holding CMIOSH desirable
- 5+ years’ HSE experience in manufacturing or industrial environments (packaging preferred)
- Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation in manufacturing
- Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation and safety training
- Experience in a regulated environment (food, pharma or consumer packaging); Lean/continuous improvement is an advantage
