The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, delivery and operation of KCS’ internal & public network infrastructure to ensure that they are secure, reliable and highly available.
As a key member of the Infrastructure Engineering team, they will be critical to the workflows of migrating acquisitions to our infrastructure standards as well as contributing to the delivery of services across the business.
In this role, you should have excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Work with the team and where appropriate third parties to Design, Develop, Implement and Support Networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) for internal consumption.
- Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
- Monitor network performance and integrity
- Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated using troubleshooting techniques whilst providing knowledge articles to assist in future
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Mentor team members on technical networking issues
- Maintain complete technical documentation
- Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
- Undertaking any other projects as required by their manager
Essential
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer or Network Administrator
- Solid understanding of network and firewall operating systems
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools
- Solid background in network administration and architecture
- In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) along with SD-WAN, IPSec
- Familiarity with access control models and network security
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to travel between UK and Global locations
- Organizational and mentoring skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Desirable
- Experience of Switch Networking Operating systems (Dell OS6, OS9, OS10, HPE Aruba)
- Experience with Watchguard Firewalls and their implementation
- Experience of transitioning between existing and desired networking standards
- Ability to diversify into Virtual and Cloud infrastructure service provision
