Within the rental sector, Klipboard provides fully integrated solutions that enable customers to manage assets, contracts, logistics, servicing and compliance with precision. As part of our strategic focus, we are modernising and consolidating multiple legacy rental products into a unified, next-generation platform designed for simplicity, scalability and intelligent automation.
We are hiring a Product Owner: Rental to support the evolution and delivery of Klipboard’s global rental product portfolio. This role is hands-on and delivery focused, responsible for turning business needs and market insights into detailed user stories, prioritised backlogs and actionable work for the development teams. You will work closely with Product Management, engineering, UX and business stakeholders to ensure that rental capabilities are designed effectively, delivered efficiently and aligned with the overall product strategy and migration roadmap. This role requires a strong understanding of rental operations, excellent analytical skills and the ability to drive clarity across teams in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced Product Owner with expertise in B2B software, mobile or ERP products, and a proven track record of delivering complex feature sets through agile development practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of detailed user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation that accurately reflect rental requirements and workflows.
- Facilitate requirement workshops with Product Management, stakeholders and SMEs to gather, clarify and refine product needs.
- Translate business objectives and customer pain points into structured, actionable product requirements.
- Use appropriate methodologies such as process flow diagrams, workflow mapping, data diagrams and use cases to ensure clarity.
- Ensure all backlog items meet the definition of ready before entering development.
- Own the rental product backlog and ensure it is clearly prioritised, refined and aligned to the roadmap.
- Collaborate with Product Management to balance strategic initiatives, migration priorities, customer requirements and technical constraints.
- Continuously groom and update JIRA to reflect current priorities, dependencies and readiness states.
- Evaluate and prioritise bugs, technical debt and ad hoc requests, ensuring alignment with broader product goals.
- Work with the development team to plan sprints, define sprint goals and select backlog items for implementation.
- Actively participate in sprint ceremonies including planning, reviews, retrospectives and backlog refinement.
- Monitor team progress through burndown charts and other sprint reporting tools.
- Provide clarification, context and quick decision making throughout the sprint to ensure smooth delivery.
- Serve as the primary liaison between rental product stakeholders and the delivery teams.
- Communicate updates, priority changes and delivery expectations clearly to Product Management and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with UX to ensure rental user journeys are intuitive, consistent and validated with users.
- Support engineering teams by providing fast-resolution guidance on requirements, edge cases and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in roadmap discussions with Product Management and provide data-driven input from delivery, customer feedback and market insights.
- Support the rental migration strategy by ensuring new capabilities and enhancements align with next-generation platform goals.
- Analyse market trends, customer behaviour and operational workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.
Skills, Knowledge And Experience
- At least 5 years of experience as a Product Owner in SaaS, ERP or mobile product environments.
- Strong understanding of rental, asset management or equipment hire workflows.
- Experience delivering features through agile methodologies with direct ownership of user stories and backlogs.
- Proven ability to collaborate with engineering, UX, QA and business stakeholders in a structured and productive way.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to map complex workflows and simplify requirements for development teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business concepts into clear product documentation.
- Experience with JIRA or similar agile tools.
- A proactive, organised and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
