The Freelance VP, Group Strategy Director provides senior strategic leadership across healthcare and life sciences engagements, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated brand, communications, and commercial strategies. This role works closely with Client Services, Creative, Medical, Science & Regulatory, and Project Management teams to solve complex business challenges, guide senior client stakeholders, and deliver strategic recommendations that drive measurable business outcomes. The successful candidate will bring deep healthcare expertise, strong commercial thinking, and a collaborative approach to delivering high-impact work across regional and global clients.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development of integrated brand, omnichannel, customer experience, and communications strategies for healthcare and life sciences clients across HCP and consumer audiences.
- Facilitate strategic planning sessions, executive workshops, and senior client presentations that translate complex business challenges into actionable recommendations and measurable business outcomes.
- Partner with Client Services, Creative, Medical Strategy, Science & Regulatory, and Project Management teams to deliver integrated strategic solutions that align commercial objectives with customer and market insights.
- Support business development by contributing strategic leadership to new business opportunities, pitch development, brand planning initiatives, and client growth discussions.
- Champion innovative thinking by applying data, customer insights, emerging trends, and AI-enabled approaches to strengthen strategic planning, collaboration, and decision-making.
Qualifications Required:
- Several years of experience in healthcare communications, pharmaceutical strategy, life sciences consulting, or integrated agency strategy leading complex regional or global client engagements.
- Demonstrated experience developing omnichannel brand strategy, commercialisation strategy, customer experience planning, or integrated communications programs for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare brands.
- Experience leading executive-level workshops, strategic planning sessions, and presentations for senior client stakeholders with evidence of influencing business and brand decisions.
- Proven experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including Client Services, Creative, Medical Strategy, Science & Regulatory, and Project Management to deliver integrated strategic solutions.
- Experience contributing to new business opportunities, strategic proposals, or client growth initiatives within healthcare communications, consulting, or life sciences environments.
- Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI as a regular part of how work gets done.
- Experience across multiple therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, rare disease, specialty care, vaccines, or consumer health.
- Experience supporting regional and global healthcare brands across EMEA, North America, and APAC markets.
- Experience applying behavioural science, customer insights, ecosystem strategy, or innovation methodologies to solve complex commercial challenges.
- Experience partnering with executive leadership teams to shape long-term brand, portfolio, or commercial strategy within healthcare or life sciences organisations.
