Job Description
Kleinfelder has an excellent opportunity for a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Co-op to join our Geotechnical Engineering Team in Exton, Pennsylvania for the summer of 2025 !
This role offers a wide range of challenging project work to tailor solutions to our Clients’ Infrastructure Needs which include:
- Natural Gas and Electric Transmission and Distribution.
- Solar and Renewable Power Generation.
- Site Development and Earthwork.
- Water Supply, Wastewater and Stormwater Management Systems.
- Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation.
- Roads and Bridges.
The Co-op would run from May 2025 through September 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other design disciplines including Site/Civil, Water Resources, Structural, Environmental, and Mechanical/Electrical/Process (MEP) to be an integral part of the collaborative design and construction of:
- Geotechnical Investigations – borings, test-pits, geologic mapping, geophysical studies, laboratory tests.
- Foundations – drilled piers, driven piles, minipiles.
- Trenchless Technologies – horizontal directional drills (HDD’s), jack and bores.
- Geo-environmental Applications – slurry walls, geomembranes, groundwater control.
- Slope Stability and Excavation Support – stability analyses, retaining walls, tiebacks, soil-nailing, rock-bolting.
- Ground Improvement – grouting, rammed aggregate piers, deep dynamic compaction.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a B.S. in civil engineering or geology with a focus on geotechnics.
- Desire to learn, or experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize priorities and multi-task.
- Can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset are essential.
- Strong commitment to accountability for project quality and schedule.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to the Kleinfelder safety program requirements.
- Coursework in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and geology preferred.
