Land and Infrastructure Surveyor (early careers / graduate)

Land and Infrastructure Surveyor (early careers / graduate)

Full-Time On-site
K

Kleboe Jardine is recruiting a Land and Infrastructure Surveyor for our client, an independent energy and utilities intelligence business based in Edinburgh.

Every week businesses close as a result of increasing costs. Our client helps organisations stop overpaying for energy and utilities, typically finding savings of 30 to 40%.

Our client also helps landowners recover what they are owed for energy infrastructure on their land. Many farms and estates host pylons, poles, substations and cables without fair or up-to-date payment, often under agreements that have expired or were never properly put in place. The business identifies these cases and builds the claims that return money to farmers, estates and rural businesses.

The role

This is a new role at the heart of a growing service. You will visit farms and estates to inspect and record energy infrastructure, research title and existing agreements, and prepare the evidence that supports compensation claims with energy companies. You will work alongside an experienced infrastructure team and partner solicitors, who handle all legal work, and help shape how the service develops.

You will

  • inspect and record pylons, poles, substations and underground cables, capturing photographs, measurements and GPS locations
  • assess how infrastructure affects access, cropping, livestock and development potential
  • investigate ownership through Registers of Scotland and HM Land Registry, and identify expired or missing wayleaves, easements and servitudes
  • make enquiries with grid and network operators and prepare evidence packs for the partner solicitors
  • build trust with landowners, farmers and estate staff

About you

This role suits a land management graduate or early-career surveyor who wants to build expertise in a specialist area. You will have:

  • a full, clean UK driving licence
  • a degree, or be working towards a qualification, in rural estate management, land management, rural surveying or a related field such as geography
  • strong numerical, spatial and research skills, with a high level of accuracy
  • clear, professional communication and the confidence to represent the business on site
  • the self-motivation to work independently and comfort working outdoors in rural settings

Knowledge of wayleaves or compensation for utility infrastructure, experience of title plans, or familiarity with GIS would be an advantage. Chartered (RICS) status is not required, and our client will support you towards it if you wish.

What’s on offer

  • a competitive salary
  • travel and fuel costs covered
  • full training
  • unlimited holiday
  • share options
  • pension
  • a well-being package
  • support for further study/qualification

Start date: early 2027.
