Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys building, testing and solving complex technical problems? Kleboe Jardine are delighted to be supporting Nami Surgical with the appointment of a Technical R&D Engineer to join their growing multidisciplinary development team. Nami Surgical are developing innovative next-generation technologies and are looking for a practical, technically curious engineer who enjoys working across prototyping, experimentation, testing and iterative product development. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the development and optimisation of advanced systems and devices within a highly collaborative R&D environment.
The business is open to individuals across a range of experience levels and is particularly interested in candidates who combine strong engineering fundamentals with a hands-on, experimental mindset. This role will operate flexibly across research, development and early-stage prototype support depending on project requirements, giving exposure to a broad range of technical activities and real product development challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute laboratory experiments, including test setup, calibration and data collection.
- Support the build, assembly and modification of prototype devices and test rigs.
- Contribute to design and simulation activities including CAD and modelling work.
- Analyse experimental data and present findings to the wider engineering team.
- Translate high-level technical concepts into practical experiments and prototypes.
- Develop and maintain experimental methods, SOPs and technical documentation.
- Work closely with electronics, software, manufacturing and quality teams to resolve technical challenges.
- For more experienced engineers, provide technical leadership across defined work packages and mentor junior team members.
You will likely have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on engineering and experimental skills.
- Experience building, testing or troubleshooting prototypes and laboratory setups.
- Experience with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion or similar.
- Ability to design experiments, analyse data and communicate technical findings clearly.
- A practical, proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Experience within areas such as ultrasonic transducers, acoustics, sensors, medical devices or related technologies would be highly advantageous. Exposure to simulation or modelling tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS would also be beneficial.
